What Does the Church Mean to You (Me) - Minister Oscene Barrett

Focus thought: Laying hold on the blessings designed for the church [13] When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? [14] And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. [15] He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? [16] And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. [18] And I...

Believing Lies: Damns the Soul - Oscene Barrett

And then shall that wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming; even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasures in unrighteousness. But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from...

Kingdom of Heaven - Kingdom of God - Oscene Barrett (September 2009)

The question that many are finding very difficult to answer is whether or not the “Kingdom of Heaven” is the same as the “Kingdom of God”. This is not so difficult if we follow Apostolic hermeneutics and proper Exegesis. I will be presenting the Bible position on this in a pointed format. I do not think much discussion is necessary and that the scriptures cited should be more than enough to prove to any one of a rational mind what the truth is. I will purposely omit the Greek etymological study, but will quickly say that the Greek form which we get Kingdom of God and Kingdom of Heaven is different. This does not mean, however, that the phrases are different,...

Judas Iscariot A Backslider By: Minister Oscene Barrett

Reflection on the life of a notable Apostle, Judas Iscariot. He was called and ordained an apostle by the Lord himself. (Mark 3:13-14). He was a preacher and one who had power to heal all manner of sicknesses and diseases (Mark 3:14-15: Matthew 10:1-4). Judas was in the company of Jesus for approximately 3.5 years. He witnessed miracles untold during this time. He was there when Jesus stopped the funeral procession at the gate of the city and returned that dead man to his weeping widowed mother (Luke 7:12-18) and he was also there at Jairus’ house when Jesus raised his dead 12 year old daughter from death (Luke 8:41-56). Judas witnessed too many miracles to be numbered, and also, he...

In Your Patience, Possess Ye Your Soul. By: Minister Oscene Barrett

"It will be tougher, but in your patience (perseverance and endurance), possess (lay hold upon) ye your soul (life in Jesus)" 19In your patience possess ye your souls (Luke 21:16-19) As I sit to meditate upon the word of God as they relate to the ending of the times(eschatology) I realize that the challenges though great, will significantly increase as we get closer to the end. However, be encouraged sons and daughters of Jesus Messiah because Jesus had told us that it is NOT POSSIBLE for the Elect of God to be deceived (Matt 24:24). I thank God it is not possible. Contrary to the many erroneous interpretation of Matthew 24:24, the ELECT here is not the antichristian Jews who forever...

The Holy Ghost (Spirit) in Action - Scene 40 - Acts 17:1-9 - Paul in Thessalonica (Greece)

Approximately half-way on their 2nd missionary journey through Asia Minor, Paul and the team left Philippi and went through Amphipolis and Apollonia before reaching Thessalonica. In the city of Thessalonica, there was a Jewish synagogue and Paul as his custom was, went there and on three Sabbath days reasoned with the congregation, explaining and expounding that Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead. "This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah".Some of the Jews in this synagogue were persuaded and joined Paul andSilas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominentwomen of the city. But the other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some badcharacters in the city from the marketplace, formed...

The Holy Ghost (Spirit) in Action - Scene 39 - Acts 16:35 - 40 - The After Effect of the Gospel Preaching

After the conversion of the Philippian jailer and his household at midnight and their subsequent baptism in Jesus name for the remission of sins, there was a significant change in the behaviours of the magistrates who apprehended Paul and Silas and cast them in prison. The power of the spirit of God in action, evidently convicted these magistrates, and at daylight they sent their officers to the jailer with orders to release these men. The now converted Jailer told Paul, "The magistrates have ordered that you and Silas be released. Now you can leave, go in peace".The Apostle Paul, being led of the spirit of God in action, boldly retorted, They beat us publicly without trial, even though we are Roman...

The Holy Ghost (Spirit) in Action - Scene 38 - Acts 16:25-34 - The Philippian Jailer Converted

Dr. Luke describes in this week’s text the impact on the community as a result of the conversion of the Lydia in Philippi. Her masters agitated the crowd to rise up against Apostle Paul and his companions, and brought them to the magistrates on the accusation that they were teaching customs that were unlawful and contrary to Roman teachings and traditions. This agitation caused the judges to command that Apostle Paul and his companions be beaten with stripes and be cast into prison charging the jailer to keep them secured. The jailer then thrust the disciples into an inner prison and kept their feet in "stocks". The scripture says that at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God;...

God Is A Numerical One - Minister Oscene Barrett (Chicago)

I have been teaching on the subject of the "Oneness of God" for the pass month and this powerful, yet often overlooked scripture came to me again. It states in strong terms that God is One. Let's see:Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one (Galatians 3:20).What is in it so powerful? The concept of a mediation, which Paul contrast with God. This is great stuff. Allow me to explain.According Strong’s online Greek Lexicon "Mediator" is from the Greek word "Mesithes 3316", pronounced "Mes-ee′-tace", which means a go-between, that is one who intervenes between TWO, either in order to make or restore peace and friendship, or form a compact, or for ratifying a covenant. It may...
