I have been teaching on the subject of the "Oneness of God" for the pass month and this powerful, yet often overlooked scripture came to me again. It states in strong terms that God is One. Let's see:
Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one (Galatians 3:20).

What is in it so powerful? The concept of a mediation, which Paul contrast with God. This is great stuff. Allow me to explain.
According Strong’s online Greek Lexicon "Mediator" is from the Greek word "Mesithes 3316", pronounced "Mes-ee′-tace", which means a go-between, that is one who intervenes between TWO, either in order to make or restore peace and friendship, or form a compact, or for ratifying a covenant. It may also mean a medium of communication, arbitrator.

Clearly, mediation requires more than one, more precisely, it need two. You cannot go-between a NUMERICAL ONE! Paul was very clear here. A mediator CANNOT mediate between ONE, but God is ONE. Please focus on the conjunction "BUT". Now, "BUT" is not just a conjunction, but one that links two things that are contrasting and are different. So God is what a mediator CANNOT mediate between, that is, an absolute being.

The word "ONE" here can only be interpreted as ABSOLUTE NUMERICAL ONE. Paul said a mediator is NOT a mediator of ONE. In other words, you cannot go-between a NUMERICAL ONE, there can be no loss of peace with ONE, no loss of friendship with ONE, no agreement with ONE, no medium of communication with ONE, and definitely no arbitrator with ONE. Clearly, there must be two to go-between, but God is ONE. There is no go-between in God, for He is NUMERICAL ONE.

If God is not ONE then we end with God being THEM. But the scriptures say we should go TO HIM (God) and NOT TO THEM (Gods) as twinitarians and Trinitarians will want us to believe. Here is the Text:

But without faith it is impossible to please him (not them): for he that cometh to God (singular) must believe that he (singular) is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6)

Where did Paul get his teaching about the ONENESS of God from? He got it from Jesus Messieh as was recorded by many of the prophets. Here are their thoughts:

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord (Deuteronomy 6:4)

…BEFORE me there was no God formed, neither shall there be AFTER me. I even I, am the Lord; and BESIDE me there is no God (Isaiah 43:10-11)

I am the first, and I am the last; and BESIDE me there is no God…Is there a God BESIDE me? Yea, there is no God; I KNOW NOT any (Isaiah 44:6, 8)

…Surely God is in thee; and there is NONE ELSE, there is NO God (Isaiah 45:14)

But the Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and everlasting King (Jeremiah 11:10)

Now therefore, O Lord our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the Lord God, even thou ONLY (2Kings 19:19).
