The Holy Ghost (Spirit) in Action - Scene 39 - Acts 16:35 - 40 - The After Effect of the Gospel Preaching

After the conversion of the Philippian jailer and his household at midnight and their subsequent baptism in Jesus name for the remission of sins, there was a significant change in the behaviours of the magistrates who apprehended Paul and Silas and cast them in prison. The power of the spirit of God in action, evidently convicted these magistrates, and at daylight they sent their officers to the jailer with orders to release these men. The now converted Jailer told Paul, "The magistrates have ordered that you and Silas be released. Now you can leave, go in peace".

The Apostle Paul, being led of the spirit of God in action, boldly retorted, They beat us publicly without trial, even though we are Roman citizens, and threw us in prison, and now do they want to get rid of us quietly? No! Let them come themselves and escort us out". When Paul’s response was reported to the magistrates, and when they realized that Paul and Silas were Romans citizens, they were alarmed. They then came to appease them and quietly escorted them from prison, and requested that they leave the city.

This event is another one where the spirit of God in action, manifested itself that enabled Paul and Silas to bear their burdens despite the physical sufferings and the despicable condition of being imprisoned for preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord told us that He will never leave us nor forsake us, even to the end of the world and He will be with us as we suffer for the name of Jesus Christ.
