This scene in Acts 9: 32-35 reveals once again the dynamic power of the Holy Ghost in the lives of the Apostles. Dr. Luke records that the Apostles Peter and Paul were simultaneously led by the Holy Ghost.
The Spirit of God directed Apostle Peter to go throughout the regions surrounding Jerusalem, including to the saints in Lydda (approximately 25 miles northwest of Jerusalem). When he got there, he found a man by the name of Aeneas, who was confined to his bed for eight years due to palsy (paralyzed ). The spirit of God empowered Apostle Peter to say, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed". The scripture says, this man, Aeneas arose immediately!
The above incident once again shows the power of the Spirit of God in action. This instant miracle of healing was not done by Apostle Peter, but in and through faith in the name of Jesus Christ. This is the only requirement for divine healing - the Name of Jesus Christ.
The Lord Jesus Christ in his great commission to his disciples before he left this earth, declared in St. Mark 16:17–18 – "These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." The Apostle Peter demonstrated what the Lord told them through the Spirit of God in action.
The Bible says in verse 35 of this lesson, that all that dwelt at Lydda and Sharon when they saw the miraculous healing of Aeneas, turned to the Lord.
The spirit of God is still in action today, and the name of Jesus has not lost its power. We are still experiencing this dynamic power of God. Many of the saints at Meadowvale East Apostolic Church have received divine healing for which doctors could not find cures.
We invite you to worship with us at Meadowvale East Apostolic Church and experience this wonderful power of God in Action.
