The Holy Ghost (Spirit) in Action - Scene 1
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ our Saviour and Redeemer. It affords me great privilege to welcome you to a new and different means of communicating God's messages for the end time. As the Pastor of Meadowvale East Apostolic Church I decided that we would embark on this new Initiative of weekly writings of my thoughts, revelations and meditations on the Scriptures that has been helpful to me personally in my walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.
This method is not intended to replace or usurp the authority of the scriptures or the need to attend worship services, but rather as a supplement for those who have the time and ability to access the web. I will try to give a topic and limit these writings to a maximum of 1 page on a weekly basis.
Most students of the Bible know that the book of Acts is a continuation of the documented writings of Dr. Luke, to his friend Theophilus who was a renowned Governor at the time, following the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He apparently got saved after hearing the word of the Lord by the Apostles and somehow contacted his friend Dr. Luke concerning the certainty of the faith.
Dr. Luke wrote the Gospel of Luke that documented the life and times of Jesus before his ascension. Then, he followed up with the book of Acts to update his friend on what happened after Jesus Christ was taken up into heaven. Thus, the Acts of the Apostles was a historical account of the power of the Holy Ghost in the lives and times of the Apostles and provided his friend documentary evidences of the mighty workings of God by those that received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on the Day of Pentecost. This book also served as a template for all that would and will receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, thus it is more aptly called the Holy Spirit in action.
Dr. Luke in his writings was an eyewitness of the events starting on the day of Pentecost and spoke to others who corroborated the events from AD 33 to approximately AD 70, when most of the Apostles disciples had died. In scene 1, Dr. Luke describes in Acts 1, the actions of the Apostles in going to Jerusalem in an upper room to wait for the promise that Jesus made to them of something spectacular - the gift of the Holy Spirit. While Jesus was with them on earth for 3 1/2 years of his public ministry, they enjoyed and witnessed the mighty acts of God on a daily basis.
The disciples did not lack of anything, because Jesus supplied all they needed from bread, water, wine plus the numerous healings and divine teachings that defied the Pharisees, Sadducees, Publicans and other religious leaders who dared to challenge or confront in or on any subject matter. With Jesus off the scene, they needed a greater power to continue his work on earth.
This greater power is the baptism of the Holy Ghost. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost fell on all those who were in the upper room (about 120 men and women). They all spoke in tongues as the power of God moved on them. This event "showed” God in action as a continuation of His power on earth, where Jesus as a man left off. This power of the Holy Ghost is available to all mankind, regardless of creed, colour, culture, nationality or custom. The receiving of the Holy Ghost gives all believers the power to conquer the enemy and live triumphantly in this present world. The Holy Ghost in Action is being experienced now! God Bless You,
Pastor McGann
